Sandy Mittelsteadt is an expert in all aspects of career academies and small learning communities development. She is the co-author of the Career Academy Toolkit book, the most-widely used book for academies and those that give career advice for a living. She is also co-author of the Sticky Learning title. Sandy has worked as a teacher in an academy, a lead teacher, an academy director, a district school-to-career coordinator, assistant state supervisor, executive director of the National Career Academy Coalition, and education liaison for the Association for Career and Technical Education. Currently, Sandy is a member of the Ford Motor Company Fund Ford PAS/CAIC National Advisory Group. She divides her time between Bakersfield, California, and Washington, D.C.
Don Rauf is a writer and editor who specializes in material for middle school and high school students. He is the co-editor of Student Health 101 and a contributing editor at Careers and Colleges, a magazine for high school juniors and seniors. He also helped write the Career Ideas for Teens and Virtual Apprentice series for Ferguson Publishing. He has published articles in Seventeen, Nick Jr., Young Entrepreneur, Scholastic's ScienceWorld and Parent & Child Magazine, and many other youth-oriented publications.
