Hi Everyone!

Career Ideas Challenge #2 features another ripped from the headlines career. This time it is inspired by Hurricane Florence and the army of electrical lineworkers still busy restoring power to hundreds of thousands of consumers. This career will appeal to students who may prefer to forego the 4-year college route in lieu of a well-paying, challenging career in an apprenticed trade. It also bridges the STEM-worthy topic of electricity.

This Career Idea Challenge has three parts:

  • a brief introduction to the featured career of the week
  • questions to encourage students to seek out information using online and/or library resources
  • a problem-solving scenario to spark create problem-solving and critical thinking skills

The attached teacher tip file explains how to use this free activity in your classroom. Be sure to pass it on to other teachers working with you to prepare career-aware students.
